Getting to the Carriage Roads…
ACADIA BIKE IS LOCATED AT 48 COTTAGE STREET IN BAR HARBOR, MAINE. IT IS NOT LOCATED INSIDE ACADIA NATIONAL PARK. BIKE RENTALS MUST BE TAKEN FROM OUR DOWNTOWN LOCATION.
Bicycle renters have a couple of different options for getting to the carriage roads of Acadia FROM OUR SHOP (see below).
May 1 through October 31:
Our shop, located at 48 Cottage Street in downtown Bar Harbor, is just 1.8 miles from Duck Brook Bridge (Carriage Road Signpost 5). See directions and map below.
FROM ACADIA BIKE, CROSS THE STREET AND TAKE A LEFT AT THE PATAGONIA STORE ONTO RODICK STREET.
TURN LEFT ON WEST STREET AND GO .5 MILES.
CROSS EDEN STREET (ROUTE 3) AND CONTINUE FOR .6 MILES ON WEST STREET EXTENSION.
TURN RIGHT ONTO DUCK BROOK ROAD, THE PAVED PATH PAST THE SIGN THAT SAYS ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ENTRANCE. THE ROAD IS BARRICADED TO CARS BUT OPEN TO WALKERS AND BIKERS.
June 23 through August 22:
The Bicycle Express Shuttle will take you (and your bikes!) from the parking lot behind Kids’ Corner to the north end of Eagle Lake (connecting with Signpost 9). The passenger van with bicycle trailer can accommodate up to 14 bikes/people* at a time and runs between the two sites every 30 minutes. -FROM ACADIA BIKE, HEAD WEST (LEFT) ON COTTAGE STREET FOR .3 MILES.
-MAKE A LEFT ONTO HOLLAND AVENUE AND GO .2 MILES.
-TURN RIGHT ON MOUNT DESERT STREET AND KIDS’ CORNER WILL BE ON YOUR RIGHT. THE SHUTTLE IS LOCATED IN THE PARKING LOT BEHIND THE DAYCARE.
